Join us for our volunteer orientations held every Thursday at 5:00 PM. We welcome you to attend and be a part of our compassionate community. If this timeframe doesn’t work for you, let us know, and we’ll find an alternative option that suits your schedule. We look forward to having you join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of animals in need.

Volunteer opportunities 

Dog program– Join our Dog Program and experience the joy of caring for and connecting with our lovable canine companions. From walking and exercising to training and socializing, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and happiness of our dogs, while helping them find their forever homes.
Cat program– Become a part of our Cat Program and make a difference in the lives of our feline friends. From providing comfort and affection to assisting with grooming and enrichment, your dedication will create a nurturing environment for our cats, guiding them toward loving families and brighter futures.
Off-site events– Join our Off-Site Events team and be a catalyst for happy endings! Every week, we host off-site events to encourage adoptions and find loving homes for our furry friends. With your help as a volunteer, we can bring more dogs to these events, increasing their chances of finding their forever families. Your dedication and enthusiasm will play a pivotal role in creating joyful new beginnings for our cherished animals.
Transport– Our Transport team is essential in ensuring our animals have access to various opportunities. From medical appointments to rescue partnerships, you’ll play a crucial role in getting our pets where they need to go, enabling them to find better lives and loving families.
Photography– Capture the essence and beauty of our animals through photography. Join our Photography team and help showcase the unique personalities of our pets, increasing their chances of being noticed and adopted into loving homes.
Shelter assistance- Lend a helping hand with our Shelter Assistance team and make a positive impact behind the scenes. From laundry, dishes, cleaning, and organizing to assisting with administrative tasks, your support ensures our shelter runs smoothly and provides the best care possible for our animals.
Tails & Trails program – taking a dog on a field trip to give them a break from the shelter. Enjoy the beautiful trails in our area with a furry companion by your side, creating wonderful memories together. Whether you opt for a leisurely walk or a playtime adventure, the tails will wag, and hearts will be filled with happiness. Treat your trail buddy to a pup cup or more, and watch their spirits soar as they embrace the love and attention you provide.

Hill Country Humane Society VOLUNTEER RELEASE

I,  hereby agree to accept a position as a volunteer worker of the Hill Country Humane Society, and in so doing, I agree to comply with all of the rules and regulations established by the HCHS, and I understand that failure to do so may result in my immediate dismissal as a volunteer. As a volunteer, I agree to do my best to represent the HCHS to the public in an accurate and professional manner.

I acknowledge that my services are provided strictly on a volunteer basis, without any pay or compensation of any kind, and without liability of any nature on behalf of the HCHS; all services are to be performed at my own risk.

I recognize that in handling animals and performing other volunteer tasks, there exists a risk of injury including physical harm caused by the animals. On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and executors, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless HCHS, its agents, servants, and employees from any and all claims, causes of action, or demands of any nature of the cause, including costs and attorney fees incurred by HCHS in connection with the same, based on damages or injuries which may be incurred or sustained by me in any way connected with my services for HCHS including but not limited to animal bites, accidents, or injuries.

I understand that public relations are an important part of volunteering at HCHS. On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and executors, I hereby allow HCHS to use any photographs taken of me for use in public relations efforts.
